►► Mechanical Engineer
Al-jon designs its own products, manufactures in-house, and distributes its end products and services on a worldwide basis. Individuals chosen must be highly organized, with strong project management skills and possess the proven ability and desire to lead development efforts from conception to completion.
Position Summary:
90% – New product development:
- Plan, develop, and prepare design and engineering activities for new product development and transition to production.
- Design and implement systems including: data to support concepts, internal and external requirements, material selection and compatibility and generation of Bill of Materials.
- Perform mechanical analysis and design utilizing both hand generated calculations and various software applications.
- Ensure product integrity and streamline processes for cost effectiveness and repeatability.
- Develop and maintain prototype designs, calculations and drawings.
- Will be responsible for the final product and operation of equipment including identifying root cause of assembly or quality issues, providing solutions and facilitating modifications.
10% – Supporting Engineering and R&D department projects/needs
Desired Skills, Education and Experience:
- A Bachelor’s Degree (BSME HIGHLY Preferred!)
- 3+ years experience as a Mechanical Engineer within a lean manufacturing environment
- Solid understanding of engineering principles with a background in hydraulics
- Competency in CAD modeling required – Pro/E, SolidWorks, Autodesk (Inventor preferred)
- Solid modeling experience is a plus

Position Summary:
Work collaboratively with our engineering department – providing designing, drawing, drafting, detailing and print checking – in their development of design documentation based on conceptual / schematic designs, and the preparation of production documentation.
45% – New product development:
- Prepare preliminary and final production drawings, as well as material specifications and change documentation.
- Develop clear, correct, concise details and assembly drawings for manufacturing.
- Facilitate tooling solutions from original idea into production.
45% – Support existing manufacturing processes
- Modify and revise designs to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce production problems.
10% – Supporting Engineering and R&D dept. projects/needs
Desired Skills, Education and Experience:
- Degreed, with 3+ years CAD experience in a design and/or development environment
- Familiar with steel manufacturing – alloys – processing – parts – design – machining – welding
- Toolmaker or machinist experience designing jigs, fixtures and dies
- Ability to multi-task / prioritize and strong geometry and trigonometry skills

►► Regional Service/Technical Support Manager
Position Region:
Lower Mountain Region and Mexico to include: Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Utah and Mexico
Position Summary:
Provides customers and contracted support groups with product and technical support by performing the following duties or through subordinates.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Staffs and trains team of technical support representatives.
- Creates systems for responding to customer inquiries via telephone, online networks, mail and in person.
- Works with Al-jon’s automated system to manage and track inquiries, parts and histories of machines.
- Trains staff to help customers use products properly.
- Coordinates and facilitates Regional Service Seminars for support groups and customers.
- Communicates with supervisor regarding failures and follows-up to make sure fixes are received and tested.
- Advises upper management on product development issues arising from product problems identified through technical support calls with customers.
- Advises technical writers on user documentation.
- Handles customer problems that appear to arise from the use of the product.
- Completes, maintains, and processes pertinent paperwork and records.
- Plans and schedules levels of support according to product release schedules.
- Assists in final testing of new products.
- Manages warranty claims and files.
- Acts as a regional contact for support in specified area.
- Makes weekly or bi-monthly calls on customers in person, in designated area.
- Identifies technical priorities for both engineering and technicians.
- Manages off-site inventory.
- Submits weekly reports of all activities to Al-jon Central for company wide publication.
- Sets-up new machines upon delivery and trains landfill personnel on operations and maintenance.
- Participates in weekly conference calls with territory regional managers and supervisors.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Helps manage employees in service center regarding service, parts, customer support service training, off-site inventory and partial manuals. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include: interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:
Associate’s degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills:
Speaks fluent Spanish. Needs to have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of accounting software; internet software; inventory software and word processing software.
Other Qualifications:
- May be required to travel 80% of the time.
- Must have a valid drivers license.
- Must have a valid passport.
- Must be able to obtain a company credit card with their own credit history.
