Life at Al-Jon
Sand In The City
Al-jon sponsored a pile of sand for the 2006 Sand In The City event with proceeds going towards the new Bridgeview Center being built in Ottumwa, Iowa. The Al-jon Team was spearheaded by Doug and Kathy Gulbranson, both Al-jon central employees, and was titled “Recycling is not the end…but the beginning.” The Al-jon team’s sand sculpture won the People’s Choice award.

Al-Jon once again participated in the popular summer event – the 2008 Sand In The City competition. With a team of “expert” sand sculptors, led by Doug and Kathy Gulbranson, the group packed and then carved sand for six hours. In the end, Team Al-Jon, produced a remarkable sculpture titled “Surf Iowa.”

Children’s Christmas Party
Each year Al-jon provides a children’s Christmas party for the youngsters of Al-jon employees. The festivities include a gift for each child, a pizza dinner, and a cast of characters performing skits to entertain. And topping off the evening is a visit from Santa. Hosting the Christmas party is a nice way to show appreciation for Al-jon employees and their families during the holidays.

Beach Party
Surf’s Up! Al-jon presented an employee family social during the summer. The beach party was held at the Ottumwa Beach Water Park and included a luau, hula dancers, a casino and swimming for the Al-jon employees and their guests.

Arrrrr….Matey! A Pirate’s Life Fer Me! Al-Jon once again hosted an employee family party at The Beach Ottumwa Water Park. The pirate themed event included everything from a treasure hunt to a race track and even pirate tattoos! The swimming was good and there were some big winners at the casino too!

Golf Outing
The Al-jon golf outing creates quite a stir as Al-jon employees come out in all sizes and handicaps to show off their driving and putting skills. Nothing beats a day on the links to cure what ails ya!

A Day at the Track
Al-jon sponsored an Employee Day at the Track event at the Iowa Speedway in Newton, Iowa. Many employees are big race fans and had attended the races many times and others were experiencing the thrill of live racing for the first time. No matter your interest level, a great time was had by all.
